Because the weather isn't always on our side.
It's photoshoot day! You have been waiting to take these pictures and may have even scheduled makeup and hair appointments. Then you find out that it's going to pour rain ALL day...
I know you're probably thinking "Why me? Why today? We might have to reschedule." If you run into this issue here's what you'll need to do next.
First and foremost, the week of the shoot, whether you are the photographer or the client, check the weather so both parties have ample time to make a decision and find alternative location options. If the shoot is preferred outside by the client, then check to see if there is a window of opportunity for the same day of the shoot.
I did a mini session for this adorable couple right before Valentine's day, that we originally planned to shoot in Forsyth Park (My favorite place. Surprise lol) but it was raining terribly this day. This was super unexpected, however, I decided to take this as a challenge.

I quickly researched some ideas for alternative locations we could shoot at. My search resulted in some places I would not have thought of like a library, bookstore, record store, a café, and a museum.
I communicated with the couple and let them know the change of plans to see if this would work for them and they were completely down!
Savannah Coffee Roasters was super nice and allowed me to do my quick session in their coffee shop. All I did was ask. I grabbed myself a coffee while we were there and it was perfect as a prop for the shoot.
Savannah Coffee Roasters had such a fascinating design. There were lots of different elements to use as great backgrounds. This made it easier to shoot in such an unfamiliar location.
I’m able to mark coffee shop photo session off my checklist now. 🥰
Takeaway: Just because the weather may not be great, there is alternative for where you can still do your session. Communication is important between all parties so you can be on the same page!
